Talk: Digitalization of the media - power or powerlessness?

Especially in the Corona crisis, but also in the run-up to the US elections, the importance of the media is once again very clear. The digitalization of information flows is leading to completely new problems: Fake news, market power in social media, censorship, the business model of traditional publishers and data protection are just a few keywords. Where is the journey for the media leading, what could the digital media future look like?

Simon Bärtschi

Tamedia

Simon Bärtschi has been editor-in-chief of the BZ Berner Zeitung in Bern since the beginning of 2019. The BZ belongs to Tamedia and is the largest subscription title in the canton of Bern with various digital channels and newspaper editions. Before moving to Berne, Bärtschi was a member of the editorial board of the Tages-Anzeiger and SonntagsZeitung in Zurich and deputy editor-in-chief of the SonntagsZeitung. Before entering the news journalism business, he graduated in geography and media sciences at the University of Berne, and later completed a management course for media executives at Columbia University in New York. He lives with his family in the Bern region.

Katia Murmann, as Head of Digital and Editor-in-Chief of Blick.ch, is driving the digital development of the Blick Group. She builds bridges between newsroom, technology and data and, as co-founder of the Editathon and EqualVoice initiatives, is committed to increasing the visibility of women in the media.

Yaël Meier

Co-Founder ZEAM

Yaël Meier (20) is co-founder of the Generation Z consulting agency ZEAM. From 2017 to 2020, the journalist worked in various functions at Ringier, and in between she was also a production assistant at SRF. She also works as an actress in front of the camera, among others in the films "Upload", "Blue my Mind" and "Die fruchtbaren Jahre sind vorbei".

Steffi Buchli

Editor-in-Chief Sport Blick Group

Steffi Buchli (42) has built up the private sports channel MySports as program director. Before that she worked for SRF as a journalist and presenter for thirteen years. In this role, she acted as an anchor for Olympic Games and as a host of talk and live sports shows on several occasions. In January 2021, Buchli will become editor-in-chief of Sport for the Blick Group.
